Peace, Presence and Passion

At times it can be tricky for us to be present with ourselves, others and the world as we are constantly being bombarded with thoughts and information. It isn’t always easy to decipher which passions are ours, or those of the collective.

Our unconscious takes us way back to our past, projects us far into the future, and leads us away from the place where we actually are right now.

We do many things without really paying attention. We listen to close-ones with our minds elsewhere. We traverse splendid landscapes without even seeing and rejoicing in the beauty of the world around us.

No real joy, nor quality of being, or relation can exist without a certain quality of presence.

Thankfully, it is easy to get back to the present moment and start feeling connected to this intricate work of art that is existence.

You can do it wherever you are, right now, by paying attention to your breathing, the sounds around you and any physical sensations you may have. Become perceptive, eyes open or closed.

Feel the air flowing through your nostrils, into your lungs. Sense the breath deep in your belly before noticing how it leaves your body as you exhale.

Tune in to the birds singing, the neighbours making noise, the whirring of traffic. Observe them without judgement. Let the sounds come and go without attaching any thought to them.

Throughout the day you can repeat this as many times as you like. Use this technique as you need, whenever you want to get back to a peaceful reality throughout the day.

It might sound silly, but you have literally nothing to lose, and everything to gain, so try it, especially if you’re feeling strange, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed or lost.

The connecting and centring effect is amplified if you can be in nature, or in a peaceful place, but never underestimate the power of your intention, regardless of where you are.

Peace, presence and passion are yours.
Connect yourself to them.
If you will it, so it is.
